Lithuania Submits Note To Belarusian Ambassador

Lithuanian MFA demands explanations regarding the accident at the construction of the Astravets NPP.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania called after the Belarusian Ambassador and submitted him a note on the possible incident at the Astravets NPP located 50 km away from Vilnius (ANPP).

The Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius announced that on Thursday.

“We have started to take measures immediately upon receive of the information from informal sources, and we invited the Belarusian Ambassador to the Ministry and presented him a note with the demand to give explanations on this incident or accident”, – the Minister said to journalists.

Earlier, the Belarusian TV channel "Belsat" reported that mid of April, a part of the supporting structure of the building, where the control of nuclear safety is supposed to be located in the future, collapsed at the Astravets nuclear power plant that is being built not far from the border with Lithuania, (ANPP). This was reported by an employee of one of the Pinsk based organizations, involved in the construction of the ANPP.

According to him, that was not the first incident, but no one has been held responsible for them yet. Representatives of the ANPP called this information “complete nonsense”. Belarusian Embassy in Vilnius reported that there was no information about this incident available, but they sent a link to Belarusian media pages, where the words of the representative of the ANPP were quoted.
