Sole Trader Jumped Out Of Seventh Storey Window Day Before Trial

The chairman of the republican public association Perspektyva believes she could have been driven to suicide.

On June 21 at 4 a.m. a Homel sole trader Tatsiana Dubanava, 55, jumped out of the window of a high-rise building and died. The sole trader was to stand trial on the next day, Radio Svaboda reports.

“Two weeks ago she went to Chachersk to sell goods. On the way she was stopped by traffic policemen, – Anatol Shumchanka, the chairperson of Perspektyva told. – As it turned out, the date of unloading was not written in the invoice. She wrote the date immediately, but traffic policemen said they didn’t care, and called up Economic Crime Department representatives. They took her to a police department, tax inspectors arrived, she was tormented for more than 3 hours, while reports were drawn up. All the goods were seized naturally, she was summoned by the tax inspection. Then she went to Buda Kashaliova to sell goods, to cover for fines, she was carrying 20 dresses. And by hard adventure, two women came and pictured her trading post, and she was summoned by tax inspection, as she had no right to trade.

After that she feared everything, she said that she had been buying foreign currency, built a flat, and now she would be asked about that… Then she became jumpy, she started jerking when a car passed by. As far as I have understood from her conversations with friends, in her last days she decided everything, and she was parting with them.

The trial was to take place on the next day. She was thinking about it only. She said she feared what they could make to her, she was extremely nervous. She said at tax inspection people talked to her impudently: they said about possible consequences for her… Everyone knew she was a normal person, an honest one, she tried not to violate any laws. She was exhausted by all these checks, inspections, raids. That’s for sure.”

Dubanava’s friends are going to bring funeral wreaths to the building of the court at the time when the hearings of the court in the case of Dubamava were to start. The time and place of the funeral are still unknown.
