Mikalaj Statkevich: Lukashenka’s “Theatre” Irrevocably Ruined

This is how one of the leaders of the Belarusian opposition Mikalaj Statkevich has commented upon the “All-Belarusian People’s Assembly” which took place yesterday in Minsk .

“As if everything goes well in our economy so that the gruff-voiced man has nothing else to do. So he plays such “people’s assemblies”. However, the country has reached the dead end, life is getting harder and harder for ordinary citizens. And this man gathers his lick-spittles, blabbering about his success which only he notices. It rings a bell on a phrase “On stage, an elderly Othello was habitually strangulating Desdemona with shaky hands.”

The hired audience may applause until the sky falls. However, even they realize that the theatre of this “actor” is irrevocably ruined,” - Statkevich wrote on his Facebook page.
