Justice Minister Aleh Slizheuski justifies the non-registration of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party.

Aleh Slizheuski said that in his interview to Euroradio, commenting on the situation with the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, which had been failing to get legalized. Each time officials had denied them the registration.

According to Slizheuski, the registering authority look at the quality of the documents in each case. Therefore, in his opinion, to say that someone has not been able to register for years is inappropriate.

Slizheuski: “If you receive a document and after it has been checked it turns out that the founders, mentioned in the list, have, in fact, nothing to do with it, their names have got there by chance, or for reasons unknown, we can’t take a decision on the registration, only because the organization has already applied several times, or to register out of pity or some other reasons, we do not have such rights and powers.”

According to the Minister, taking a decision on registration or refusal of registration, the officials proceed from the requirements of the legislation and of the documents that are available to them.

We remind that in March 2011 Lukashenka said in his interview to The Washington Post that the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, “will never be registered.”
