EU's Policy Towards Belarus Remains the Same

No improvements will be observed in the near future.

Slovakia's Presidency in the EU which starts this July will improve relations between Minsk and Brussels, the head of the Slovak Embassy in Belarus Jozef Migaš said.

- We see how a new way of relations between Brussels and Minsk, as well as Slovakia and Belarus, is being formed, the ambassador noted.

Will expectations of the Slovak diplomat come true?

- I would call it a cautious optimism, Raman Yakauleuski, political observer, notes in the interview to Zautra Tvae Krainy. — Any Ambassador in Minsk aims to improve relations.

However, according to the expert, the structure of the EU is that the presidency there should not be overestimated. Real solutions, according to political observer, are accepted at another level.

- There are such countries like Germany, France who run the policy of the United Europe, the analyst stressed.

It should be recalled that relation normalization between Minsk and Brussels is already on.

- Because of the referendum on the UK's withdrawal from the EU, relations with Belarus fall into the shade, Raman Yakauleuski notes.

Can the Visegrad Group stimulate Brussels to more active rapprochement with Minsk?

— Countries of the Visegrad Group (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary) try to talk over in Brussels. But its impact should not be overstated. Now more talks concern "Budapest-Warsaw" tandem. And these countries put Ukraine first, the expert believes.

So the policy towards Belarus will remain the same.
