Volunteers of "Belarus" battle group take registration procedure in the Ukraine's army.

"Now we will officially defend Ukraine." Such information is published on Facebook page of the "Belarus" battle group which takes part in anti-terrorist operation in the eastern Ukraine.

Naviny.by contacted Belarusian volunteers to specify details.

"Part of our fighters takes the registration procedure in the Ukraine's army. It is necessary to obtain a professional military experience and a legal status," they replied.

Fighters with military cards sign contracts with a Ukrainian military unit. Belarusian volunteers have chosen an elite unit under a military reform. "There are trainers from the United States and other NATO countries. We hope for new information and experience," they say.

Earlier fighters in the group could not get military cards of Armed Forces of Ukraine.

They stress that they do not set up a claim to Ukraine's citizenship, they are patriots of Belarus and are ready to defend it.

"The war in Ukraine gives us an opportunity to prepare for a possible "Crimean scenario". This is our true purpose," volunteers stressed.

"Belarus" tactical group was established in 2014, its name was adopted only in June 2015. It is basically formed by Belarusian volunteers, but there are also Russians and Ukrainians. Along with the Right Sector they held positions in Peski village - near Donetsk - and participated in defence of the Donetsk airport and a number of other operations.

The group lost two people in the Black Arrow operation: Ales Cherkashyn from Brest and Vitaly Tilizhenko from Zaporizhzhia.

"At the moment part of fighters is in Avdeevka, other part is taking the registration procedure in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Some guys take treatment after injuries," members of "Belarus" battle group say.

They keep the number of members in the group in secret. It is known that former political prisoner and Co-chairman Edward Lobau, opposition activist Ian Melnikau, as well as fighters with call signs "Vayar", "Zubr", and "Tur" are in the group. All of them come from Belarus.
