1

A 1939 campaign veteran has been awarded in the Polish Embassy in Belarus.

Polish Army soldier Leanid Radzisheuski was posthumously awarded the “Defender of the Fatherland” medal.

Representative of the Office for Veterans' and Repressed Persons' Affairs of Poland Jan Sroca presented the medal to veteran’s daughters Alena and Yauheniya, Polish Radio informs.

Ambassador of Poland to Belarus Konrad Pavlik thanked the veteran’s daughters for treasuring the memory of their father. “Poland remembers its heroes and is grateful for their faithful service,” – the diplomat said.

Leanid Radzisheuski studied physics at Vilnius University named after Stefan Batory. After the attack of Nazi Germany on Poland on 1 September 1939, he was drafted into the army and took part in combat. He was captured by Germans, and several times tried to escape unsuccessfully.
