Vitsebsk Officials Increased Bonuses 2.5 Times For Themselves

Before Aliaksandr Kosinets was awarded a title of an honorary citizen of Vitsebsk, the city executive committee abruptly increased money bonuses for laureates.

By a ruling of Vitsebsk city executive committee as of May 30, the one-time bonus paid for a laureate of the title the Honorary citizen of Vitsebsk was increased from 20 to 50 basic units, news.vitebsk.cc reports.

Thus, the bonus now amounts to Br10 million 500 thousand, or about $525 according to the current exchange rate.

The instruction on awarding the title of the Honorary citizen of Vitsebsk was passed on May 23, 2011. According to it, on June 22, 2011 Radzivon Bas and Nina Tulinava were named honorary citizens of Vitsebsk. The bonus for each of them, according to the basic unit of Br35,000 then, was to be equal to Br700,000, or about $140.

As we see, in five years the bonus for a honorary citizen in Vitsebsk has grown 15 times in rubles and 3.75 times in dollars.

On June 24 during celebration of the 1042nd anniversary of Vitsebsk in the summer Amphitheatre, the main stage of the arts festival called the Slavic Bazaar in Vitsebsk, it was announced that the former head of Vitsebsk region Aliaksandr Kosinets and the headmaster of Vitsebsk grammar school №1 Valiantsina Shyrokava had been granted the title of an honorary citizen.
