The Ministry of antimonopoly regulation, which will attempt to control pricing, has been established in Belarus.

The Ministry of antimonopoly regulation is to create “an effective and civilized pricing control system” in Belarus, interfax.by reports.

“... We will do our best…we even have to create an effective system of civilized control over pricing,” – Belarusian Trade Minister Uladzimir Kaltovich said in his interview to Belarus-1TV channel on Sunday, commenting on the signing of Lukashenka’s decree “Concerning antimonopoly regulation and trade bodies”.

In general, the key task of department “has been and remains the protection of the internal market on the basis of equal conditions for all participants and fair competition,” Kaltovich said.

As the minister explained, trade inspection with the antimonopoly authorities would be created at the local level. “In the future, I see the expansion of its activities not only in terms of the trade control, it will also work with manufacturers, with all the market participants,” – Kaltovich noted.

The Minister said that last week a proposal was passed to the government to expand the functions of the interdepartmental commission with additional powers “in order to control unscrupulous business entities, which increase prices unreasonably.”
