Storm Caused Stop of Trains and Damage of a Gas Pipeline

Fallen trees during a storm prevented the movement of trains and damaged a gas pipeline in the Minsk region.

The Emergency Ministry says on July 12 a rush of wind caused falling of trees on railroad in Dzyarzhynsk region (Neharelaye-Koidanava-Fanipal).

"Train movement in both directions was carried out along one line. The delay of trains made up 8-55 minutes - 12 passenger and 4 cargo trains. At 21.43 the movement of rail transport was resumed", - the Emergency Ministry says.

In addition, the day before at 19.30 it was reported about a damaged high-pressure gas pipeline in Dzyarzhynsk.

CHUP MAF, production of varnish and lacquer, was left with no gas. The technological process was not violated. The gas supply was resumed at 20:30.

Heavy rains and hail caused flooding of 18 private land plots and cellars of two high-rise apartment buildings in the Minsk region and Dzyarzhynsk. "Operation of vital infrastructures was not damaged. To eliminate the effects of flooding emergency crews were used", - the emergency department informs.

According to operative data, on July 12 15 settlements in eleven districts of Brest, Homel, Minsk and Mahilyeu regions suffered from thunder storm. There were damaged roofs of 78 houses, three social facilities, one production building and 38 agricultural buildings.

"No one was injured. Recovery operations are implemented," the Emergency Ministry informs. There are 111 cases of falling of trees in Minsk (95 cases in the Dzyarzhynsk district) and Homel regions. There were no injuries. Recovery operations are being implemented by employees of the Emergency Ministry and other organizations.
