Zhodzina Resident Sentenced To 100 Hours Of Public Works For Refusal To Pass Security Screening At Metro

The visiting hearing was held today in Minsk metro electric engine house.

On July 21, the court made a decision on the case of a Zhodzina resident, who refused to screen her bags in the metro and hit the security inspector of the city metro.

According to tut.by, the woman was sentenced to 1 year in prison, suspended for a year, 100 hours of public works and financial compensation. The visiting hearing was held today in Minsk metro electric engine house. The Pershamaiski district court of Minsk sentenced the accused – a craftswoman from Zhodzina - to 1 year in prison with suspended execution of the sentence for a year. In addition, the woman will have to serve 100 hours of public works and pay 50 basic units (1050 rubles) as a compensation to the state.

If during the next year the resident of Zhodzina has no violations, she will not be sent to the place of imprisonment.

Let us remind that the incident took place on May 17 in the hall of Uruchcha metro station. A metro security guard inspector stopped a passenger and asked her to let him screen her carry-on luggage. She refused and fought with him, hitting him on the face and hands several times.

The passenger was detained. She was a craftswoman from Zhodzina. A criminal case under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code for using violence against a public official maintaining the public order was initiated against her.

Appointing a visiting court session on the case, the Pervamaiski district court noted that it “may be quite insightful.”
