BT Reported On Accident At NPP

Ilia Kolasau voiced some questions to the Ministry of Energy of Belarus on air of the ONT program “Contours.”

The emergency at the Astravets NPP construction occurred on July 10, and the explanations of the Ministry of Energy appeared only on July 26 and in the form of a commentary on the information about the incident in the media.

The presenter asks whether the Ministry of Energy was planning to report the emergency, if it had not leaked to the media, tut.by reports.

“Who will decide on further work? – Kolasau asks. – It is clear that the contractor is concerned to meet the project schedule, without deviating from it, and, of course, he will provide the requested documentation. But what will be written there? The contractor is only interested in putting the NPP in commission, and we are to live with it.”

The state-run media didn’t get answers to their questions.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Energy confirmed numerous reports about the incident at the Belarusian NPP. “According to the general contractor JSC Atomstroyexport, an emergency situation has occurred at the reactor vessel’s storage area during lifting work on its movement in the horizontal plane,” – the Energy Ministry informed.

According to the ministry, the RUE Belarusian NPP, which is the customer of the project, immediately requested all the necessary documents and information from the general contractor. At present, the analysis of this situation is being undertaken.

“A correspondent decision will be taken after Belarusian specialists have studied the information provided by JSC Atomstroyexport. The Belarusian side will be primarily guided by the station’s under construction absolute safety,” – they emphasized in the ministry.
