Belarus Loses Even To Fiji At Olympics

The sixth day of the Olympics competition in Brazil has not become a trigger for joy.

Uladzimir Samsonau, whose success we had been particularly waiting for, alas, did not get a medal. He lost to Chinese Zhang Tszik in a bitter struggle in the semi-finals of the individual tournament in table tennis, and to Japanese Jun Mizutani in the match for the bronze.

The Belarus women's national basketball team played hard in a match of the preliminary round with the Turkish tem, but the opponent scored three points more. Not without the help of referees ... Unfortunately, our girls lost their chances of reaching the playoffs, but still they deserve only good words.

Belarusian men's rowing team could not get into the finals, Solidarity reminds.

Tsyrkun Nikita continues to struggle in the preliminary races at competitions in sailing. But the 22th place after seven races gives little reason for optimism.

Swimmers Yauhen Tsurkin and Pavel Samsonau finished last in their heats of the 100-metre butterfly and didn’t get into the final.

And finally, boxer Mikhail Dalhaliavets lost to Adilbek Niyazymbetov from Kazakhstan in the match 1/8 finals.

So, Thursday brought us not the slightest reason to let our joy. August 11, perhaps, was the worst day for Belarus at the current Olympics.

The United States takes the lead in the team competition with 16 gold (China is the second – 11 medals), 12 silver and 10 bronze medals. 56 countries have won medals at the Olympic Games – 2016 already. Even the small island nation of Fiji is among them, its rugby team has won the tournament in Brazil. Belarus hasn’t won any medals in Rio yet.
