Mikalai Statkevich: If We Get Back Elections, We Get Back Hope

The rally demanding new elections will be held at Kastrychnitskaya Square, on 12 September, at 18.00.

One of the opposition leaders Mikalai Statkevich wrote that on Facebook.

“There will be no normal life without normal elections. The power, that is not chosen and cannot be altered by the people, sooner or later begins to work only for itself, collecting limousines, airplanes and storing money on overseas secret accounts, spending it on palaces and whores. And what is the most important – it does all possible to retain the power and to keep it forever.

Therefore, effective reforms, that would raise the living standards of millions, are blocked, as such reforms will deprive authorities of the total control over the people, which gives them unlimited power.

They do not care that millions of people are drifting into poverty. What matters, is to make a feast for one last forever.

This creature has not only stolen the elections from us. It has stolen our hope for normal life.

We've had enough of annoying repetitions of this boring farce. Let’s get back what has been stolen from us and return normal elections. Let’s bring hope back to the country.
