The Canadian Fraser Institute, which calculates the Index of Economic Freedom annually, failed to include Belarus in its research again.

According to the analysis of several components, including the regulation of the credit market, the labor market and the business, the size of the government apparatus, reliability of currency, legal system and property rights, freedom of international trade, Hong Kong appears the freest economy in the world. The top five also includes, as for the freedom component, Singapore, New Zealand, Switzerland and Canada. Venezuela closes the ranking. Libya, Congo, Central African Republic and Argentina remain close to it, Ejednevnik reports.

Among the former Soviet republics, the highest position – 5th – is occupied by Georgia. Fraser has called Lithuania the 15th, Armenia – the 18th, Estonia – the 19th, Latvia – the 27th. All these countries are included in the group with a fully free economy.

The second group includes Kazakhstan (52th place) and Kyrgyzstan (70th), the third – Tajikistan (84th), Moldova (99th) Russia (102nd) and Azerbaijan (107th), the fourth – Ukraine (135th).

Poland is in the second group at the 40th place.

Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were not included in the research, just like Belarus.
