78-Year-Old Invalid’s Pension Illegally Seized On Account Of Fine

78-year-old invalid of the second group Barys Babok from the district center Krupki (Minsk region) was illegally seized the money to pay off the fine.

It happened before Tsentralny district court judge Viktoryja Shabunia’s decision entered into force. On June 15, she fined the pensioner 420 rubles for participation in an unsanctioned picket, novychas.by writes.

We remind that on March 31, Barys Babok, along with other activists of the civil initiative Against Lawlessness in the Courts and Prosecutor's Office took part in the picketing against formal replies to the citizens’ complaints at Freedom Square in Minsk.

The pensioner has appealed the decision of the first instance’s judge in the Minsk City Court, where the hearing of the pensioner’s cassation appeal will take place on October 4.

However, on September 21, he found out, that 110 rubles had already been seized from his pension on account of the fine. The invalid was given a copy of judge Viktoryja Shabunia’s decision with a stamp of its entering into force in the social protection department of the Krupki district executive committee.

As lawyer Tamara Siarhei emphasized, Barys Babok’s case once again testifies that the trials on such administrative matters have been transformed into a formality, and therefore judge Viktoryja Shabunia was certain, that Minsk city court would approve her decision.

Mechanical engineer Barys Babok has been in charge of Krupki district agricultural enterprises for many years, worked as Deputy Chairman of Krupki District Executive Committee on construction, for his diligent work he was awarded an order “Badge of Honor” and the Honorary Diploma of the Supreme Soviet of the Byelorussian SSR.
