The REP trade union and human rights activists start a nationwide campaign to collect signatures for the abolition of the decree "on parasitism."

From January 18 to February 18, signatures for the abolition of the decree will be collected at the REP Trade Union offices in all the regional centers. In addition, an online petition "Say No To Decree №3 "On Parasitism!" has been launched on the zvarot.by website today. You can also sign it.

You can sign the online petition "Say No To Decree "On Parasitism!" on the zvarot.by website here.

– It is necessary to collect 200 thousand signatures, then they will not dare to ignore us, – REP Trade Union leader Henadz Fiadynich told praca-by.info.

The organizers call on citizens to come forward and put forth citizenship and solidarity, putting a signature for the abolition of the illegal and unjust decree, and not only on those, who have received the so-called "chain letters" from the tax inspection, but as well on those, who are on safe ground.

– With the current economic situation, when there are layoffs, job cuts in the country, every citizen at any time can find himself a "parasite", – human rights activist Aleh Vouchak says. – One year after the issuing of the decree, the public mood has changed dramatically. A year ago, in my opinion, 20-30% used to support the decree, now the situation is completely different. Almost every second family today falls under this decree, its close or distant relatives. And it has become a great shock for the poor, of course.

– You can put the signature at our offices in Minsk, Brest, Hrodna, Vitsebsk, Homel, Babruisk, Mahiliou, Vorsha, and at the offices of BNP in Salihorsk and Navapolatsk, – Henadz Fiadynich says. – In the regional centers, where there are no trade union offices, volunteers will work. We will not go from door to door and collect signatures. We want to help those people, who have found themselves in this situation, to get organized. Our task is to coordinate the campaign. In addition, we encourage people to send statements and complaints to the tax inspections personally.

The organizers have promised to keep informing on progress in the collection of signatures.

Aleh Vouchak reports that for the moment around 10 thousand people, of whom about 40% are unemployed, turned for help to the RAP trade union and his organization Legal Assistance to Population.

– People are angry. There is a variety of cases, and none of them is not included in the decree, – the human rights activist notes. – A father, who brings up an 11-year-old daughter alone, has written to us. He is ready to serve 15 days, and asks what he should do, because there is no one to leave the child with, no family. A woman writes in despair, she’s ready to commit suicide, she does not have any money, and hasn’t been able to find a job in her regional center for three years. We also act as psychologists. I found an only way, how to oppose the decree. The tax authority has to suspend the adoption of measures to collect the tax, for the time, needed for considering people’s applications and complaints to the tax authorities. So I advise everyone to write and to start with the question: "Tell me, where am I supposed to take the money, if I’m unemployed?"

In conclusion Henadz Fiadynich warns:

– We want to repeal the Decree №3 peacefully. We want to make this happen, and we want the power to know about this. If the power does not hear the voice of the people, then we will decide what to do – a rally in Minsk or in all the regional centers at the same time, the people will decide.
