Official visit to Moldova by the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko is scheduled for late February. INTERLIK’s correspondent was told in the Belarusian embassy in Kishinev that the exact date of his coming to Moldova is to be fixed by the end of this week. It is planned that in Kishinev Vladimir Voronin and Alexander Lukashenko will talk on the wide spectrum of issues, touching upon the development and reinforcement of bilateral trade-economic relations.
In course of Lukashenko’s visit the Vice Premiers of Moldova and Belarus – co-chairs of the Moldavian and Belarusian sections of the intergovernmental commission for trade-economic cooperation Dmitry Todoroglo and Andrei Popkov will adopt an agenda of events on trade-economic cooperation for the year 2002. This procedure is envisaged by the Interstate program of long-term cooperation until 2009.
According to the experts, in 2001 the export of Moldavian commodity to Belarus rose by 40%, while the import of Belarusian goods into Moldova increased by 28%.
