Ukraine promises an “unprecedented transparency” in the investigation into the information about the allegedly illicit sales of “Kolchuga” radars to Iraq and is even ready to present a range of tactical and technical characteristics of these systems, says secretary of the Council for the national security and defense Evgeny Marchuk. In his Friday interview to the journalists in Kiev Marchuk once again stressed that Ukraine never sold radars to Iraq and reminded that the heads of state have already responded to similar allegations in spring this year, Marchuk added that they manufactured a few dozen radar systems, which are also available in Belarus, Russia and Azerbaijan.
The Secretary underlined that in connection with the voiced accusations the Ukrainian leadership addressed the UN Security Council and USA with a proposal to inspect the observance of the UN sanctions on arms trade by Ukraine.
The official further noted that the inspectors would learn the name of the country, to which Ukraine sole radar complexes and also the mediator-firm. Moreover, they will also let them examine the manufacturing plant.
