Belarusian Woman Dies In Aftermath Of Terror Attack In Moscow

Death Toll of Terror Attack in Moscow Climbs to 200

The number of victims among those taken hostage in the Theatrical center Dubrovka in Melnikova street could be twice less, if the military headquarters had informed paramedics about the real diagnoses of the victims. Such an opinion is expressed by a range of specialists, who are now fighting to save the liberated captives. Regrettably, they only agreed to give interview if their anonymity is ensured, reports Utro.ru. According to the medics, the death toll will ultimately climb to over 200 human casualties. At the moment the officially announced 118 will be joined by another 45, who are considered to be in a “critical state” for the time being. Thus, the death toll will already be 160. Plus, they will add missing ones and those who will die in the next days.

October 30 – Universal Day of Political Victims’ Commemoration

On that day the youth wing of the United Civil Party “UCP Youth” intends to hold a traditional “Chain of those who care” in order to remind the society about the disappeared Belarusian opposition members Viktor Gonchar, Yuri Zakharenko, Dmitry Zavadsky, Anatoly Krasovsky; about the formerly imprisoned MPs Andrei Klimov and Vladimir Kudinov; about late Supreme Soviet Vice-Speaker Gennady Karpenko; about the journalists, sentenced for allegedly defaming Lukashenko. The action will take place at 5p.m. on October 30 in the Oktyabrskaya square of Minsk.

Boris Nemtsov to Sue Belarusian Government

Disrupted Minsk Conference to Be Held in Moscow

International conference “Belarus-Russia: New Integration?”, organized upon the initiative of the United Civil Party by the “Strategy” analytical center, which was to involve Russian SPS leader Boris Nemtsov and Duma Vice-Speaker Irina Hakamada, had been thwarted by the Belarusian special services on October 23. As a result, reports UCP press-service, director of the Supreme political school in Moscow Sergei Markov proposed to hold the event in the capital of Russia. And so, it will be hosted in the Fund of the effective politics on October 29. Belarus will be represented there by over 10 delegates – heads of some political parties, economists and politicians.

Belarus to Become Bahrain’s “Point of Support”

In course of the meeting with the Bahraini king Hamad Ben Isa Al-Halif, Alexander Lukashenko, who paid visit to Manama on October 26-28, underscored that the main reason for his official trip there was to establish the most intense contacts between the two countries in the political, trade-economic and other spheres. The head of the Belarusian state noted that “Bahrain is a Persian Gulf’s heart, while Belarus is a heart of Europe. We’d like your country to have a point of support on the European continent,” – reports BelaPAN.

The Moskovsky district court of Minsk sentenced the Young Front’s leader Pavel Severinets to a 1mln665thsd rubles fine ($890) for holding a picket on October 23 in Minsk against the Belarusian-Russian integration.

Chechen Representation to Open in Minsk

At present, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry initiated the procedure on registering the Chechen Republic’s representation in Belarus. In an interview to BelaPAN, the head of the representation Ruslan Hizriev noted that this would be official Chechnya’s first diplomatic structure outside Russian Federation.

Moscow Siege Gas Death Toll Set to Climb

The hostage death toll in Moscow`s theatre siege rose to at least 118 on Sunday night and was set to climb sharply, with doctors saying that all but two victims died from the mysterious gas used when special forces stormed the building on Saturday morning.

Regional Grodno procuracy forwarded to the Leninsky district police station a letter with a proposal to bring to administrative responsibility a range of journalists – “for allocating in Internet an on-line version of the “Pagonya” newspaper”. In a letter from the procuracy police received a printout of the site http://pahonia.promedia.by for September and the make-up of the Internet edition’s editorial board. There are totally seven journalists on the list – all with phone numbers and home addresses. The first person to be summoned to police was Irina Chernyavka.

Alexander Lukashenko Sets Off for Kuwait

Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko is currently on an official visit to Kuwait. According to the Belarusian leader’s press-service, within the framework of his two-day visit to Al-Kuwait Alexander Lukashenko will rendezvous with the country’s Premier, first deputy Prime Minister – Foreign Minister, Minister of Emir’s administration, director general of the Kuwait’s Fund of Arabic economic development.

“Gasprom” to Halt Gas Supplies to Belarus

“Gasprom” intends to give up the plans of supplying gas to Belarus, said on October 25, according to the Russian media reports, deputy chairman of the “Gasprom’s” board Alexander Ryazanov during the opening of the complex on the manufacture of liquefied natural gas in Vyborg (Leningrad region). “The results of our recent negotiations are quite frustrating. Belarusians not only don’t pay, but even use extra volumes of gas. Over 9 months they utilized 1,5bln cubic meters of gas,” – said Ryazanov.
