ZUBR Activist Evgeny Afnagel Sentenced to 15 Days of Jail 14:52, 26/03/2003
ZUBR movement activist Evgeny Afnagel was sentenced by the Sovietsky district court of Minsk to 15 days of arrest. The verdict was passed by judge Oksana Relyaeva. Evgeny Afnagel was found guilty of violating art.167/2 – repeated involvement in unsanctioned events. The young man was detained during opposition’s rally “Freedom Day”.
Judge of the Sovietsky district court of Minsk Natalya Skugareva ruled to sentence the activist of the ZUBR movement Igor Vinnikov to 5 days of arrest. Igor Vinnikov was found guilty of violating article 164/1 of the Administrative code – participation in unsanctioned events. This was the first verdict, passed against the participants and organizers of the March 25 rally, marking the 85th anniversary since Belarusian People’s Republic’s proclamation. Trials over the rest of the detainees are still underway.
