Trials over the participants and organizers of the March 25 action, marking BPR’s jubilee, were hosted today in the Sovietsky district court of Minsk. As a result, BPF party leader Vintsuk Vyachorka was sentenced to 10 days of arrest, while ZUBR activist Evgeny Afnagel – to 15 days. ZUBR activist and human rights defender Dmitry Borodko, ZUBR activists Tatiana Elovaya and Igor Vinnikov got 5 days of jail. Judges Ruslan Kozodaev, Oksana Relayeva and Natalya Skugareva once again demonstrated bias and injustice of the Belarusian judiciary. They ruled arrest even against those, who never engaged in the action, like Dmitry Borodko. At the moment three more opposition members – Leonid Novitsky, Vladimir Kishkurno and Oleg Korban stand before court. The Okrestina prison cells will be over-crammed. On Monday alone they sentenced 10 protesters. Organizers of the People’s March Andrei Sannikov, Ludmila Gryaznova, Dmitry Bodnarenko and Leonid Malakhov remain behind bars. Trials over oppositionists were monitored by US and British embassy officials. Strange as it sounds, but the OSCE mission representatives ignored them again.
