Krichev Authorities Deny Registration to Independent Newspaper 16:14, 26/03/2003
Krichev district council once again refused to provide the local independent newspaper “Volny Gorad” with a legal address, which is the necessary condition for its registration.
This time the district authorities of Krichev didn’t even react to the letter from the Ministry of information, according to which the newspaper can be registered with the founder’s home address (founder – entrepreneur Sergei Nerovny).
In a reply to Nerovny the officials claim that the letter from the Ministry of information is perceived by them only as recommendation and they can therefore pass decisions regardless of it, reports Radio Svaboda. Founders of the “Volny Gorad” believe that the statesmen’s refusal violates the established decision-making rules and will appeal against it in the regional economic court.
