PACE Delegation Arrives in Minsk 11:59, 15/09/2003
Delegation of the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly arrived on Sunday for a working visit to Belarus. The schedule of visit includes meeting with representatives of official structures, political opposition and public organizations.
As “Rosbalt” correspondent was told in the press-service of the United Civil Party of Belarus, PACE delegation includes 10 EU parliamentarians from the United Kingdom, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Belgium and other countries, representing all five factions of the Assembly. According to the press-secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Andrei Savinykh, Minsk will be visited by the leader of socialist faction in PACE Terry Davis (Great Britain), rapporteur for Belarus of the Assembly’s Political Committee Stef Goris (Belgium), chairman of the sub-commission for relations with Belarus of the PACE Political Committee Jonas Chekuolis (Lithuania) and other European parliamentarians.
The Foreign Ministry representatives also reported that the delegates would visit the presidential Administration and Information Ministry. On September 15 in Minsk the PACE delegation, along with the “national assembly” of Belarus will organize a seminar “On functioning and sophistication experience of the democratic institutes of a contemporary state”.
