Iran Set to Invest into Belarusian Economy 11:52, 22/09/2003
Iran intends to invest great financial means into the Belarusian economy. IRNA national news agency reported earlier in the day that on September 18, 2003 Minsk hosted negotiations between the Minister of trade of Iran Mohammad Shariatmadari and representatives of the Belarusian leadership. According to Shariatmadari, the size of investments may well exceed $500mln. This sum also includes all common projects, which are currently either being mulled over or implemented.
The Minister of trade also pointed out that in the near future in Brest they will build a 14-floor trade representation of the Islamic Republic of Iraq in Belarus. Moreover, the Iranian workers are now embarking on the construction of a large underground trade center in the Independence square in central Minsk. In their turn, the Belarusian specialists will engage in the building on the Iranian territory of a plant, specializing in the manufacture of tractors and trucks.
Meantime, Belarus will also face favorable conditions on the effective promotion of excavation machinery and additional equipment on the Iranian market, said the director general of the department for international cooperation of the Ministry of industry and mining of Iran Hossein Eshki during his conversation with the member of the Belarusian embassy in Iran.
In general, during the negotiations the sides discussed condition and perspectives of the bilateral cooperation development between Belarus and Iran in the industrial sphere.
