Russian Ren-TV Film Crew Detained In Minsk 13:10, 07/06/2004
Television journalist crew of Russian TV Company Ren-TV was detained on June 6 at the October Square in Minsk. Reporter Elena Slav and cameraman Alexei Pokrovsky were interviewing activists of Zubr movement Maxim Gromau and Katsyaryna Klimko, who were charged with violation of Criminal Code for painting graffiti “Free Marynich!”. Elena Slav and Alexei Pokrovsky were taken to the police department of Central district of the capital. They were questioned and their documents checked, and they were released.
Zubr activists Katsyaryna Klimko, Maxim Gromau and Yauhen Afnahel were detained as well. The young oppositionists were kept in the police department of Central district for two hours and released without making a report. As the detained told, at the police department they were told that their main transgression was giving an interview to Russian TV Company. Katsyaryna Klimko and Maxim Gromau, who are charged with a criminal indictment, were told that they are to be summoned for interrogation in a short time. mmmmm
