Belarusian Democracy Buried in Poland 13:48, 08/11/2004 Several dozens of people took part in the action of solidarity with Belarus, which took place in Bialystok. The European Parliament MP Barbara Kudrycka, the BPF leader Vintsuk Vyachorka, one of the founders of the Union of Poles in Belarus Tadeusz Gavin, and a number of leaders of Bialystok branches of Polish political parties took part in the rally. “Candles were lit and a coffin was placed in front of the Embassy. It was written on the coffin: “Democracy in Belarus died on October 17,2004”. It is the date of recent parliamentary elections and referendum, which lifted presidential term limits for Lukashenka. Opposition and independent observers claim that the election results were rigged”, wrote Kurjer Poranny. Vintsuk Vyachorka and Tadeusz Gavin urged the Polish authorities to support the Belarusian civil society more actively. They visited Bialystok on personal invitation of the European parliament MP Barbara Kudrycka, representing Citizens Platform (Platforma Obywatelska), the Pahonya informs.
