Vawkavysk Hunger Striker Placed In Hospital 12:33, 16/11/2004
Valyantsina Saldatava, a hunger striker from Vawkavysk, was placed to the hospital because of ill health. For 19 days a 67-year-old pensioner refused to eat as a protest against the fraudulent elections and referendum results, repressions against the local newspaper “Mestnaya Gazeta” and the administrative dereliction.
Valyanstina Saldatava is suffering from diabetes, and the doctors insisted that she is to be put to hospital. But she only agreed to become a day patient, as she is to look after underage granddaughter, a schoolgirl. Saldatava is taking medicines and continues the hunger strike.
As said by the pensioner, the authorities of Vawkavysk do not pay any attention to the hunger strike, as before.
