Belarusian authorities extend license of Minsk bureau of Russia`s Channel One television network 15:47, 10/12/2004
The Council of Ministers of Belarus has extended by three years the license of the Minsk bureau of Russia’s Channel One television network. “Since the validity of our old registration certificate expired, we applied for an extension and the application has now been granted,” Dmitry Novozhilov, head of the bureau, told BelaPAN.
According to him, the bureau’s staff consists of three members and will not change.
The Minsk bureau of another Russian government-controlled television network, Rossiya, was less lucky. Earlier this year, the Belarusian authorities refused to extend its license, accusing the bureau of repeated biased coverage of events in Belarus.
