Prosecutor’s Office Issues Warning to Community Leaders
Educational Minister Against Politics In Universities, But Not Against BRYU
The Minsk prosecutor’s office has issued an official warning to public activists Mikalay Kalinin and Andrei Pyatrovykh. The signature under the address to Alyaksandr Lukashenka with the demand to stop persecution of the chairperson of the Union of Poles in Belarus Andzelika Borys has been regarded by the prosecutors as “activities on behalf of unregistered organization”. The press center of the Charter’97 was informed about that by Mikalay Kalinin.
KGB to Guide Along the Trail of “Iron Felix”
Education minister of Belarus Alyaksandr Radzkou stated that political activities inside universities are impermissible. But this ban does not concern the Belarusian Republican Union of Youth, Radio Svaboda informs.

Journalist Andrzej Poczobutt Cannot Go Abroad
“It is a matter of common knowledge that the regime with all its force is impeding investigation of the disappeared politicians’ cases,” told one of the leaders of vendors’ movement Anatol Shumchanka, speaking about the Day of Solidarity on October 16. “It is our common anguish and sorrow. And a duty of every Christian is to express solidarity and provide moral support to the victims of the regime. Today not every person out of those who remember about Yury Zakharanka, Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, Zmitser Zavadski, would risk coming at the square encircled by armoured troop carriers and strongly-built guys with truncheons. But anybody can light a candle. If you are a concerned person, you cannot but do that. Besides, it is not only a brave deed, but also a beautiful act of humanity…”
Trade Union Activist Summoned to Prosecutor’s Office
Today the judicial bench of Hrodna regional court affirmed a court decision about temporary restriction for going abroad for the activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus, a journalist Andrzje Poczobutt, Radio Svaboda informs.

The chairman of the Belarusian trade union of workers of radio electronic industry (REP) Henadz Fyadynich, had to write an explanatory note concerning information published in the trade union bulletin “Express-Info” number 22 of August 8, 2005. The Prosecutor General’s Office found “too much negative information” in the bulletin.
Anatol Lyabedzka Acquitted by Court
“I support the Day of Solidarity on October 16, and now I disseminate information about it in Vitsebsk. I think that the Day of Solidarity will be widely supported by Vitsebsk dwellers. Now we are approaching the elections, and every candle would mean that a person wants freedom, democracy and prosperity for our country, and would not vote for the dictator. Professor Iury Bandazheuski Urges People: Think about Future!
The court of Brest region declared not guilty the leader of the United Civil Party (UCP) Anatol Lyabedzka. The politician had been charged with organizing on July 9 in the settlement of Davachova a meeting for nomination of candidates for the congress of Democratic forces. The politician was absent at that event, as he had been detained by policemen approaching the place of the meeting. The meeting was held at the legal address of Damachova branch of the party of Communists of Belarus, as an open party meeting of the PCB.
