Lukashenka Not Welcomed In SCO
12:19, 09/12/2005

The question of admission of Belarus to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is not on the agenda of the organization still, the RIA was informed by Beijing-based SCO Secretariat. As said by the source in the organization, Belarus had never addressed the organization or sent a membership application.

“So this question is not on the agenda of the SCO,” a representative of the Secretariat said, adding that it’s had to comment on this for him.

“The visit of Belarusian president to China had not concerned the SCO Secretariat in any way,” he noted.

On Tuesday Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka, who had visited China, said that Belarus could be taken in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as an observer.
