“Amnesty International” Held Performance In Amsterdam 13:09, 17/12/2005
Activists of “Amnesty International” have held a theatrical action in Amsterdam. It was dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Solidarity.
On December 16 in the center of the capital of the Netherlands, human rights activists lined up with portraits of abducted politicians in their hands, and with burning candles. Two persons in paper masks with moustaches, and with hockey sticks were trying to “disband” the rally. They were running around the participants of the action, trying to “stifle” them, seize the portraits and put out the candles. But they failed, and started to play hockey with a football ball.
The rally lasted for about an hour and attracted attention of hundreds of people. After learning about the situation in Belarus, many of them asked how they could help.
