Action of Belarusian Solidarity Took Place in Moscow 13:24, 17/12/2005
A dozen of the Belarusians living in Moscow came to the Belarusian Embassy on December 16 in the evening, to express their solidarity with the victims of political repressions.
First the picketers with candles and flags were standing on the opposite side of the street where the Embassy is situated. The picket was to be held there according to the permission of the authorities. Russian policemen demanded to cross the street, picketers obeyed, and most of the action was held right in front of the Embassy’s doors. Workers of the Embassy were nervous; they asked policemen to disband the picket, and it was moved to the side of the Embassy.
Participants of the action handed out leaflets to numerous passers-by. Hundreds of car-drivers were witnesses of the protest.
