On February 3 officers of Ashmyany customs office confiscated copies of Belarusian magazine “ARCHE” and Ukrainian magazine “Krytyka”. These magazines were found during a search of belongings of a Belarusian citizen, human rights activist Yury Chavusau, who was on his way from Vilnius.
A customs officer I. Chajkouski studied materials of a discussion “Elections In Satrapia”, printed in the “ARCHE”, and articles in the “Krytyka” dedicated to the topic of Belarus. Finally, Chajkouski announced that a special expert should study these media. An expert should say whether these publications damage interests of the Republic of Belarus. Mr Chavusau is to challenge the illegal ruling of customs officers, the human rights center “Viasna” informs.
