Ayatskov Did Not Want to Come to Lukashenka 17:26, 09/02/2006
Former Saratov Governor Dmitry Ayatskov, who had not received Minsk’s agreement, says that he didn’t want to be Russian Ambassador to Belarus. “I was always saying that I have never wanted and I do not want to leave Russia. I have even less wish to represent Russian interests in Belarus,” Ayatskov said in an interview to RIA Novosti.
As said by former Governor, it was just what he said at a press conference in Saratov before his trip to Minsk. After that press conference Belarus refused to receive Ayatskov as a head of diplomatic mission. “I had to avoid this proposal in a very accurate and wise way. I avoided it like. I had avoided it in a spontaneous way. I already had credential letters, and I could have arrived to Minsk, and I could have taken position in the embassy calmly,” Ayatsov underlined.
