Milinkevich will not be arrested until after election, KGB chief says 11:41, 17/03/2006
The head of the Committee for State Security (KGB) said that presidential candidate Aleksandr Milinkevich would not be arrested until after the election.
When asked by reporters at Thursday’s news conference whether the politician would face any sanctions for urging people to attend a rally on Oktyabrskaya Square on March 19, KGB Chairman Stepan Sukhorenko said, “Mr. Milinkevich who unleashed this wave would like to be arrested for a minor offense, but I believe this won’t happen.”
“The candidate will pass all stages of the electoral race and we will consider whether he is guilty or not in accordance with laws afterward,” he added.
