“We do not recognize the results of the presidential elections. It wasn’t elections, but an unconstitutional seizure of power carried out yesterday in Belarus. According to the law in force, citizen Lukashenka didn’t have a right to take part in the elections,” told the leader of the Belarusian democratic forces, the single democratic candidate for presidency Alyaksandr Milinkevich today at the press conference in Minsk. “Today at 6.30 p.m. we shall come to October Square in Minsk, to say that Lukashenka is illegitimate. The elections have taken place with gross violations, and we demand repeat elections!”
“The information about the elections, provided by the CEC is 100% fraudulent. Lukashenka has not won even 50% of votes. If the elections were fair, the run-off would be held,” the single candidate said. “We shall demand holding repeat election. One of the main, basic requirements is that representatives of all candidates for presidency are to be members of electoral commissions”.
Alyaksandr Milinkevich assessed the peaceful action held on October Square in Minsk. “We have held a peaceful rally. We have not seen such actions in Minsk for a long time. We have proved that we can control many thousands of people and maintain public order. The representatives of the authorities were provocators, they tried to intimidate people. But they have failed. Victory will be ours. God is with us. Freedom, truth and justice are on our side,” Alyaksandr Milinkevich said.
