Belarusian Dictator Forecasts Collapse of Global Economy

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko forecasted on Tuesday the downfall of the global economy. “If the prices of energy sources continue to grow on global markets, this may lead to the collapse of global economy,” Lukashenko said in his annual address to the Belarusian parliament.

Fascists Behave Outrageously In Minsk

Today night the doors of the office of the Belarusian Popular Front Party were smeared by black paint, and the letters NBP (the National Bolshevik Party) appeared on the wall. It is not the first hooligan’s attack of fascists. Writings of xenophobic nature appeared on the building of the party earlier.

Stupidity At All Levels

Unofficial ban for participation of foreigners in excavations has been introduced in the Institute of History of the Academy of Science. As archaeologists think, some officials suspect archaeological sites to be those “72 camps for training militants”, mentioned by Lukashenka. In order to be on the safe side, the administration of the Institute has prohibited inviting foreigners to archaeological excavations. This ban has not been issued as an official document. Weekly Nasha Niva has been informed about that by one of archaeologists. The administration of the Institute does not confirm the fact.

Have Sanctions Hurt Him Indeed?

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has ordered the government to prepare an address to international judicial authorities concerning the decision of the EU to ban entry of the Belarusian officials to its territory. “The Justice Ministry is to prepare an appeal to corresponding international courts, the European court of Human rights. Who has allowed limiting trips of the prime minister, who was not engaged in the elections at all,” Lukashenka said in Minsk.

The military industrial complex of Belarus is to develop as a high-technology industry, but it does not speak of militarization of the country, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said in Minsk. The Belarusian dictator emphasized that Belarus has always been standing for development of relations with the US and the EU. “As far as we are interested in equitable cooperation with the leading countries of the world, Belarus should correspond to their level in everything, and in the sphere of economy and in the military policy as well,” A. Lukashenka said.

Mikalay Autukhovich Goes On Dry Hunger Strike

An entrepreneur from Vaukavvysk Mikalay Autukhovich, who stands triel in Hrodna now, has announced a dry hunger strike. This statement was made by him at a court session on May 22. The entrepreneur has explained his decision by the court’s dismissing his motion. The entrepreneur asked to change the measure of restraint for him and substitute arrest with a written undertaking not to leave the place. So the entrepreneur said that he believes the result of the process is predetermined, and knows that the verdict would not be in favour of him. Now, starting from Tuesday, he is going to stop drinking, pahonia.promedia.by informs.

Why Padabed Complaints Against His Subordinates?

On April 5 young activist Kanstantsin Usyanok submitted a complaint against actions of riot policemen to the Prosecutor’s office of Tsentralny district of Minsk. He asked to carry out an investigation and bring to account those policemen who were beating him up and insulting him in a police bus after detaining him in October Square in Minsk. In an answer colonel Padabed claims that during an agency check the facts had not been confirmed and actions of riot policemen had been found justifiable.

Condoleezza Rice: “Russia Should Stop Intimidating Its Neighbours”

Russia should be pressed on democratic reforms, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in an interview published in the newspaper of Boston College on May 22. She added that Moscow should not intimidate its neighbours. “It’s also important for Russia not to intimidate its neighbours. The small states around Russia that used to be part of the Soviet Union are now independent and they have to be respected as such,” she said.

The ministry of justice withdraws the suit against the liquidation of “The Union of Belarusian Authors”

Today, on May 22 at 2:30 pm the Supreme Court of Belarus had another sitting on the case of the Ministry of Justice action against the oldest art organization in Belarus - “The Union of Belarusian Authors”.

“Malady Front” announced a petition against the pressure on the “Malady Front” leaders Zmitser Dashkevich and Artur Finkevich sentenced for 15 days of imprisonment by Minsk Maskouski borough court. A 24 year old politician Zmitser Dashkevich has spent 145 days in prison at Akrestsin street. A 21 year old Artur Finkevich who was held in the investigatory prison for three months at Valadarskaha street is sentenced for two years of custodial restraint and awaits for being sent to coercive labors.
