Pavel Krasoiuski’s Fate Hangs in the Balance
11:17, 10/10/2006

Meeting of investigators with the detained youth activist Pavel Krasouski is scheduled for October 10 at 2 p.m. During the meeting it is to be decided whether the young activist would stay detained in the remind prison or the measure of restraint would be changed for him. Radio Racyja has been informed about that by a representative of a human rights center Viasna Leanid Svetsik. He also told that Krasouski’s interests would be defended by a Minsk lawyer Pavel Sapelka and Vitsebsk lawyer Vyachaslau Praskalovich.

It is done with the aim that a client could get qualified aid in any moment. Praskalovich has already established contact with the investigator. There is a hope to bring some necessary articles and food to the detained, who had to stay without some necessary thing last weekend.

Krasouski’s mother visited him. She expresses strong dissent to possibility of her son’s participation in this crime. Tamara Krasouskaya has called the accusations “a farce and absurdity”. Moreover, it does not correspond to the fact that during blasts in Vitsebsk the young activist was abroad.

Neither human rights watchdogs nor lawyers are mentioning that Krasouski’s case could be closed, though they hope it’s possible.

Pavel Krasouski was detained a few days ago. He is suspected of organizing blasts in Vitsebsk last year. The activist faces capital punishment.
