Well, human rights activist Katsyaryna Sadouskaya has been convicted for a letter which hadn`t been sent. In this unsent letter she demanded to carry out a mental examination of Alyaksandr Lukashenka. After recovering from a shock, Belarusians are to start burning their personal diaries: what if in a home search reasons for filing a case against them would be found there?

Belarus President Lukashenko to visit Iran soon - minister

The president of Belarus will soon pay an official visit to Iran, the Belarusian foreign minister said Monday. "I hope Alexander Lukashenko`s visit to Tehran will take place in the coming weeks," said Sergei Martynov, who is on a working visit to Iran October 22-23.

Iran, Belarus Stress Development of Trade Ties

Iranian Commerce Minister Mas`oud Mir-Kazemi called for the serious deepening of ties and implementation of agreements and joint projects with Belarus. Speaking in a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov here on Sunday, Mir-Kazemi noted the enthusiasm of the two nations` presidents for the development of mutual political and economic ties.

Two Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Vitsebsk Colony

Administration of the penal colony "Vitsba-3" has confirmed information that two prisoners of the colony are on hunger strike. They are a former presidential candidate Alyaksandr Kazulin and a former deputy, a leader of the deputy group "Respublika" Syarhei Skrabets, who had been imprisoned since May 2005. The former deputy earlier told that he is ready to announce a hunger strike because he hadn`t been granted early conditional release. "Besides, Skrabets is on hunger strike showing solidarity with Alyaksandr Kazulin," the Charter`97 press center was told by the head of the legal department of the former presidential candidate Kazulin, Aleh Vouchak.

No Cooperation Between Belarus and PACE Anticipated

Official Minsk is set to continue negotiations with the PACE, stated the head of the lower chamber of the Belarusian illegitimate parliament Uladzimir Kanaplyou after the meeting with the head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rene van der Linden in Moscow. This statement has caused varying comments of Belarusian politicians.

More than 2,000 demonstrators gathered on Bangalore Square in Minsk on October 21 to express their protest against eviction of the New Life church from its premises. At the moment 98 church members continue the hunger strike which continues for the 18th day.

Finally, after 11 years, a German expert has supported Lukashenka in his striving to work "according to Hitler`s principles". An expert of the German Foreign Policy Council Alexander Rar in an interview to "Belgazeta" confessed: "… one shouldn`t by a scoffer, but in fact business in Belarus is developing. And quite a few European structures think that it is possible to work in your system, where an orderliness is guaranteed by the president and government".

On October 21 a German branch of the human rights organization Amnesty International held a picket ion Magdeburg with a demand to release Belarusian political prisoners, activists of the initiative "Partnership" (Patrnerstva) Mikalay Astreyka and Tsimafey Dranchuk. Picketers were holding posters: "Freedom of assembly in Belarus: only behind bars", "Freedom of opinion in Belarus: only on paper", "NGOs in Belarus: banned", "Freedom to Mikalay Astreyka and Tsimafey Dranchuk".

On October 21 a meeting in support of a Protestant church "New Life" was held in Minsk Park of Nations` Friendship near Bangalore Square. According estimates of organizers, there were more than 2,000 participants: representatives of Full Gospel Christians, the Union of Christians of Evangelical Faith, and people who wanted to express their support to the church.

No Oppositionists In Homel City Election Commission

There won`t be any representatives of opposition in Homel city territorial electoral commission. The authorities have decided it inadvisable for a representative of the United Civil Party, a former Mayor of Homel Svyatlana Galdadze to enroll as a member of the city territorial election commission for local elections.

Colony Administration: Kazulin Started Hunger Strike

Former candidate for presidency Alyaksandr Kazulin continues hunger strike. The BelaPAN has been informed about that by the director of the colony "Vitsba-3" where the politician serves the sentence Vitaly Agnistikau. As said by him, A. Kazulin hadn`t been placed to a separate cell, he is kept with other prisoners. "Three times a day, as required by rules, he is given food. It is up to him what to do with it," the director of the colony said. According to his information, Kazulin feels well and continues to work half-days as an auxiliary worker.
