Khristenko: Trade Wars are “Mopping-up Operation” 12:14, 27/10/2006
Minister of Industry and Energy of Russia, Viktor Khristenko, believes that certain frictions in economic relations between Belarus and Russia, which were dubbed “trade wars”, are a natural continuation of the countries’ rapprochement. “On one hand, this could be treated as “trade wars”, and on the other, it is a normal process of a mopping-up operation, necessary for a new stage of development,” V. Khristenko said to Interfax in Moscow, expressing his opinion on exacerbation of problems in the mutual war between Belarus and Russia.
“The Customs union (of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan) is to become a new stage of development. We should come to this stage without unadjusted white spots,” V. Khristenka said. To his mind, this “mopping-up” is a working process.
Industry and Energy Minister believes that not manufacturers, but regulatory bodies are responsible for the existing problems. “To settle those problems is their direct obligation, their work,” V. Khristenko underlined.
