Belarusian Embassy in Warsaw Ignores Hunger Strikers

A hunger strike of solidarity with the former candidate for presidency of Belarus, a political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin, continues in Warsaw. For a few days participants of the hunger strike were gathering by the Embassy of Belarus in Warsaw they had white-red-white flags and streamers with them. Today for the first time from the beginning of the relay hunger strike they have decided not to go to the building of the Embassy. None of the Embassy representatives came out to the protesters.

Picket of Solidarity with Political Prisoners near Government House

Belarusian Social Democrats have tried to hold a picket of solidarity with political prisoners in the center of Minsk. At about midday an activist of the Belarusian Social Democratic party (Hramada) from Barysau Ales Abramovich and a member of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada Ales Haurusyou gathered near the Government House on Independence Square with posters “Freedom to Kazulin and other political prisoners,” “Freedom to Dashkevich and Sevyarynets”.

Zakhodzhaya Stopped Hunger Strike. Her Son Beaten Up

Today the deputy chairman of the primary organization of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union at Belshyna enterprise, an electrician Alena Zakhodzhaya announced that she stops her hunger strike. This decision has been made by her on the 43rd day of protest, “Salidarnasts” newspaper informs, after her 33-year son was beaten up on Saturday.

Lukashenka Doesn’t Spear Expense For Military Exercise

In 2007 two regiments of Belarusian military air forces are to go to Russian Telemba training range for weapons training exercise. As the information agency Regnum informs, it has been stated today, on November 14, at a press-conference by Belarusian military air forces Commander-in-Chief Aleh Paferau. As said by him, once in two years those training ranges are used for S-200 exercises.

Headmaster of Grammar School Where Lukashenka’s Granddaughter Studies Sentenced to 8-Year Term

On November 14 the court of Kastrychnitski district of Minsk has convicted Aleh Badalau, a headmaster of high school number 16 where A. Lukashenka’s granddaughter studies, of committing a crime under Article 430 Part 2 of the Criminal Code (bribery).

Human Rights Watchdog Aleh Vouchak Announced Hunger Strike of Solidarity with Kazulin

The human rights activist Aleh Vouchak (Oleg Volchek) has announced a hunger strike of solidarity with the former candidate for presidency, a political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin, who continues his hunger strike in the colony Vitsba-3 for the 26th day. Alyaksandr Kazulin demands to study the situation in Belarus in the UN Security Council. “I would like to give moral support to Alyaksandr Kazulin and his just demands. Besides, I myself face total lawlessness in Belarus every day. At the moment an administrative action against me is studied by Hrodna regional court. I was charged with violation of the Article 193 Part 1 of the Administrative Code for transporting booklets “State’s meanness chronicles” about abduction of the former Interior Ministry head Yury Zakharanka, and “Monitoring of presidential elections- 2006” (providing invalid data when declaring goods and vehicles taken through the border),” Aleh Vouchak said to the Charter’97 press center.

KGB Refuses to Investigate Desecration of Holocaust Monument by Neo-Nazi

The State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus has refused to open investigation of the fact of desecration of the memorial to Jewish victims of the Nazi Holocaust in Belarus, “Yama”, in Melnikajte Street in Minsk, “Telegraf” reports. The KGB of Belarus believes that desecration of the monument had been carries out by underage hooligans, as the KGB is unaware of such an organization, “White Rus Arian resistance front”, which leaflets were found on the scene.

On 26th Day of Hunger Strike Kazulin’s Blood Pressure Risen?

Today family of the former candidate for presidency Alyaksandr Kazulin managed to reach on the phone the administration of the penal colony Vitsba-3. The director of the colony Vitaly Agnistsikau told to the wife of the political prisoner, Iryna Kazulina, that on the 26th day of hunger strike the state of her husband’s health is “satisfactory”. The official asked about Kazulin’s usual blood pressure. He refused to explain why he needs this information. “We are very worried. The head of the colony usually told that the state of Kazulin’s health is “normal”, and today he has told that it is “satisfactory”. Why has he asked about blood pressure? We know absolutely nothing, and he is on the hunger strike for 16 days already! None of our requests to inform about Kazulin’s health was answered,” Aleh Vouchak, a human rights activist told to the Charter’97 press center.

Andzelika Borys Interrogated in KGB for More Than 4 Hours

Yesterday the chairperson of the Union of Poles in Belarus Andzelika Borys was interrogated in Hrodna regional KGB directorate for the first time. She is a witness for the criminal case of drug trafficking, the latter being classified as a political provocation by the UPB Head Council. According to Radio Svaboda, the interrogation took longer than 4 hours.

Trade Union Leaders Denied Registration

Leaders of the independent trade union Alyaksandr Bukhvostau and Henadz Fyadynich have been denied registration of their initiative groups for their nomination as candidates of Minsk city executive committee. In both cases the authorities acted in the same manner.

Communists and Milinkevich Supporters Lead In Number of Nominated Candidates

As initially estimated, the united democratic forces of Belarus have nominated about a thousand of candidates for deputies of local Soviets through collection of signatures. This number is lower than planned by the opposition approved in the beginning of October at the consultations of leaders of the headquarters of associations following the principles of the campaign “Local Elections”.

Russia Offers 1.5-2 Billion Dollars For Gazprom

The Russian side is ready to offer 1.5-2 billion dollars for Beltransgaz. It has been stated by Kommersant with a reference to a source “taking part in gas negotiations”. The new price announced by Alyaksandr Lukashenka at the consultations in Minsk on November 13, was called “absurd” by the source. “We do not need anything at a price of $17 billion. $1.5-2 billion for the whole Beltrasngaz, that is the price margin we are ready to bargain within”.
