A supervisory commission of Minsk`s Frunzensky District Executive Committee is expected to consider on December 12 whether Timofei Dranchuk should be released on parole, his father, prominent environmentalist Valery Dranchuk, told BelaPAN. He said that this information had been confirmed to him at various agencies, including the interior ministry`s Penalty Administration Department.
An opposition activist, a 46-year-old Alesya Yasiuk, was detained yesterday in Minsk during distribution of stickers “Jeans for Freedom!” The woman was taken to the police department of Leninski district of Minsk. She was beaten up by a police major I. V. Falej. Medicolegal proceedings have recorded beating signs at her body. She plans to appeal against illegal actions of the policeman.

The leader of the democratic forces of Belarus Alyaksandr Milinkevich was detained in Belazyarsk, Brest region. A car where the opposition leader, his press-secretary Pavel Mazhejka, and the head of the Minsk regional Council of the Belarusian Popular Front Party Alyaksei Kavalets was detained by policemen. As said by policemen, an anonymous report had been allegedly received by them, that drugs and alcohol were transported in the car. The Charter’97 press-center has been informed about that by a press-secretary of the opposition leader Pavel Mazhejka.
The Union of Jewish public associations and communities has initiated creation of an inter-religious committee on counteraction to neo-fascism, Interfax was informed on Monday in the Union. The reasons for creation of the committee were facts of defilement pf buildings and monuments, when fascist symbols were painted there.
Yesterday in a TV program “Kontuty” at the Belarusian TV the head of Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s press-service Pavel Lyohki went back to the scandal with Russian journalists who left the CIS summit in Minsk. They protested against the order of the Belarusian president’s administration not to allow journalists of some Russian newspapers to attend the summit.

We Shall Win” covers the events of March 2006 by the eyes of common citizens, its participants, who were taking part in mass protest rallies, then put up a tent camp, were arrested and imprisoned in Akrestsin Street prison.
On December 3 a flash-mob was held in Minsk. It was dedicated to the International Day for the day Abolition of Slavery. Young activists gathered near a metro station Frunzenskaya, and after that headed to McDonald’s restaurant in Nyamiha Street, and then to Maxibis cafe. Young people were acting out slaves, and they went with their hands tied with a rope. The procession was headed by a man with white mask and black moustache. He had a red-and-green cap on his head, and he had lots of golden medals for first places in ski and hockey competitions.
Participants of a hunger strike in Hrodna, parishioners of the community of the Roman Catholic community of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn (of Vostraja Brama), Mother of Mercy in Hrodna, Teresa Milasheuskaya (born in 1938) and Iryna Hilyuk (1935) were hospitalized today in the night. They were diagnosed a hypertensive crisis. The women had to stop the hunger strike.
Participants of a hunger strike, representatives of a Hrodna-based Roman Catholic community of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn (of Vostraja Brama) feel well. the BelaPAN has been informed about that by the rector of the community Father Alyaksandr Shemet, who takes part in the protest as well. As said by him, the situation around the hunger strike hasn’t changed, and there are no actions on the party of the authorities.
Today another stage of election campaign of local Soviets’ deputies ends today. Candidates for deputies, who were nominated by signatures collection, as well as by labour collectives or political parties, are to submit necessary documents for check by election commissions. A day before an extraordinary congress of the Party of Communists of Belarus (PCB) was held in Minsk. A forum of 250 delegates has recommended all PCB nominees for deputies of local councils to withdraw from the election race.
