Action of Solidarity with Belarusians held in Prague (Photo) 17:39, 18/12/2006
On December 16 in Prague a traditional action was held. It was dedicated to the Day of Belarusian solidarity. Czechs, Poles and Belarusians gathered on Krizovnicka Square near the Charles Bridge to express their solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners and their families.
20 persons have taken part in the protest. They were handing out leaflets to Prague dwellers and numerous tourists. The leaflets told about the current regime in Belarus, about the abducted politicians and a journalist. In the end of the rally candles of solidarity were lit. Words of support have been said in Belarusian, Czech and Polish language. The rally was organized by the Czech students civil organizations Svobodné Bělorusko in cooperation with the “Union of Belarusians Abroad”.
