Belarusian Painter Leon Tarasewicz Became Prize Winner of Poland’s Grand Award of the Culture Foundation 17:54, 05/01/2007
A well-known Belarusian Polish-based painter Leon Tarasewicz has become a prize winner of the Grand Award of the Culture Foundation of Poland in 2006. The panel decided to give a prize to Leon Tarasewicz for his contribution of Polish visual arts and for participation in large exhibitions in Kunsthalle in Luebeck and in the National Gallery of Art “Zachęta” in Warsaw.
The Grand Award of the Culture Foundation is the most prestigious prize in the area of culture in Poland. Its laureates are writers Stanislaw Lem, a film director Andrej Wajda and a composer Wojciech Kilar. Leon Tarasewicz was born to a Belarusian family in the village of Waliły, in 1957, from where the elements of nature that appear in his works come. The painter takes an active part in life of the Belarusian minority in Poland, European Radio informs.
