Belarusian ambassador accused Russian mass media of unleashing «information war» 15:13, 26/02/2007
Extraordinary and plenipotentionary ambassador of Belarus to Russia Vasil Dalgalyou considers that “not simply a propagandist campaign but just an information war has been lately unleashed by Russia against Belarus”.
“All those streams of dirt, false facts and lame” arguments are aimed at creation and facilitation of a stable image of “Belarusians parasitizing at the expense of Russia” in the minds of Russian people, declared the head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in his interview to the “Union State” magazine, according to Interfax.
Meanwhile, the ambassador stressed the coordinated actions of all the Russian TV channels when dwelling on the subject of “Russian- Belarusian cooperation. “Complete silence on the life in union country has been suddenly changed for scrupulous calculations of the “friendship cost”. As by magic, a trump ace has appeared in the sleeve of the mass media –a sort of “mythical results” of Russian public polls, supposedly, expressing the viewpoint of the Russian population of concerning Belarus, V. Dalgalyou said. “Such insinuations do not only offend the feelings of the peoples of two countries but inflict damage to the Russian- Belarusian relationship”, stressed the diplomat.
Dalgalyou also added “Belarus was the first among the C.I.S. member-state countries to restore and exceed the GDP level of the Soviet period”. “Today Belarusian output has been broadly represented in the world market. Every tenth tractor and every third heavy lorry sold in the world is of Belarusian origin. And such examples are numerous. Isn’t it an indicator of our high intellectual potential?” asked the ambassador. With regard to the raw materials’ subject he mentioned that Belarus had been recently diversifying their deliveries. “Thus, for example, we are leaving the Russian market of metals, buying them in Ukraine, because it is of a higher quality and cheaper there”, the diplomat told.
