“The colossal efforts of the authorities may prevent the Congress of Democratic Forces to be held. But all the issues actually have been already settled. And the congress as the highest representative body of the united democratic forces is only to legitimize those decisions. There are too little chances that according to the applied requests the Palace of Republic or concert hall “Minsk’ will be provided. Consequently, we shall consult the colleagues on the issue of conducting the congress outside Belarus. We shall decide on the place later”, thus leader of the United Civil Party (UCP) Anatol Lyabedzka commented on the refusal of the authorities of the MAZ Palace of Culture to provide the hall for conducting the Congress.
Students of the historical faculty of the Belarusian State University (BSU) on their own initiative started collecting signatures against annulment of the transportation allowance. Last week the signatures were being collected at the main building of the BSU, at the law, geographic, mechanical-mathematical and journalist faculties. The signatures were also being collected at the main buildings of the Belarusian National Technical University, Belarusian Agrarian Technical University and Minsk State Linguistic University.
