Today, May 16, the Day of Belarusian Solidarity is marked in Belarus and worldwide. Actions with a demand to Belarusian authorities to release political prisoners and start democratic changes are to take place in the cities of Europe and in the US. In Belarus people would light candles in their houses and gather on squares to pay the tribute to the memory of abducted and repressed, and to call upon choosing the path of reforms.
On May 16 street actions of solidarity, conferences, exhibitions, film presentations dedicated to Belarus are to take place in many countries of the world: in Poland, Ukraine, Russia, France, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, the USA.
Days of Belarusian Solidarity are held on the 16 day of every month as a sign of solidarity with Belarusian abducted oppositionists, with political prisoners and the repressed, with all those who are fighting for freedom and democracy in Belarus.
