PACE Deputy not Allowed to Visit Minsk 15:12, 28/05/2007
A deputy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the House of Europe and of Lithuanian Sejmas Emanuelis Zingeris has been denied entry to Belarus with an aim to take part in the Congress of the Democratic Forces.
At the previous Congress which was held in Minsk in October 2005, Emanuelis Zingeris made harsh statement addressed to the Belarusian regime. The PACE deputy is convinced that was a reason the Belarusian embassy in Lithuania denied his a visa without explaining reasons.
“I would be glad my wife would take me so seriously, and respect me the way Lukashenka does”, Emanuelis Zingeris said commenting on the situation to the CDF organizers. “I think the light of Belarusian freedom created by Belarusian democrats, is exceeding the darkness form by Lukashenka’s faded regime”. The PACE deputy has also noted that “the world is not paying heed to the voice of the Belarusian president, but to the voice of European democrats in Minsk”.
