Last Tuesday KGB officers detained the head of the main refining and chemical production concern Belneftekhim Alyaksandr Barouski (Borovsky). The Prosecutor General of Belarus Pyotr Miklashevich said that Barouski and a number of other businessmen had been arrested on suspicion of embezzlement. The KGB confiscated "large sums of money and valuables" from them. The detainees were placed to the KGB remand prison. A criminal action was brought up against them.
